FAQ
Frequently asked AC questions
Practical answers about scheduling, common cooling problems, and what to expect.
- How do I book an AC appointment?
- Select any Book Appointment, Free Estimate, or Schedule Service button on this site. Those buttons open the Dr. Handyman Assistant, which passes your request to our central dispatch team.
- Is my appointment confirmed as soon as I submit a request?
- No. A submitted request is a request. Your appointment is confirmed only after central booking is completed and dispatch has received and acknowledged it.
- Which areas do you cover?
- We serve homeowners across Miami-Dade and Broward, from Homestead through West Palm Beach. If you are near the edge of that range, include your city in the request.
- My AC runs but the house is not cooling. What should I check first?
- Check that the thermostat is set to cool with a temperature below the room reading, look at the filter for heavy dust, and make sure return and supply vents are not blocked by furniture. If those look fine, send a service request.
- Why is water dripping near my air handler?
- That usually points to a blocked condensate drain line or a full drain pan. Turn the system off to avoid water damage and send a request describing where the water appears.
- How often should I change my filter?
- Many South Florida homes do well with a change every 30 to 90 days, and sooner with pets, heavy dust, or ongoing renovation work. We can confirm the right size and interval during a visit.
- Do you work on ductless mini-split systems?
- Yes. We service ductless wall units along with central systems, including cleaning, drainage checks, and control troubleshooting.
- What should I do before the technician arrives?
- Clear a path to the thermostat, the indoor air handler, and the outdoor unit, secure pets, and note when the problem started and any sounds or smells you noticed.
